Ajax USA

Frequently Asked Questions

This page provides answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about Ajax USA. .

  1. "What is Ajax USA? Is it a web page, a club, an on-line community or a business? Who are you people?"

Um, we're definitely a web-page... To be precise: Ajax USA is a fansite for AFC Ajax Amsterdam. Everything we offer is free and free of advertising. So that pretty much rules out the part about being a business. As to who we are, we are a small staff of unpaid Ajax fanatics who spend far too much time working on this web site. To learn more, read our Staff page.

  2. "How many people belong to the club?"

We don't have memberships anymore, but when we did we had approximately 2,000 members worldwide.

  3. "Who can join Ajax USA?"

Well, strictly speaking, you can no longer 'join' Ajax USA. If you love Ajax, you're already a member. :-)

  4. "Who writes your match reports? Are the authors actually at the games, or do you write them based on other reports? Do you ever re-print reports as your own?"

All of our match and news reports are independently written by one of our staff members. You can tell exactly which staff member wrote a given report by noting the initials in parentheses, e.g. (MP) for Menno Pot, at the end of each report.

The author almost always attends the game being described, in its entirety. Perhaps one in twenty match reports is written by a staff member who watched the entire game on television. In the rare occasion when none of our staff are able to see the full game, which only happens with some pre-season fixtures and friendly games outside of Amsterdam, we will base our report on other match reports (that on Ajax.nl, for example) and credit the sources used.

Statistics and facts about the goals scored, attendance, referee, bookings and line-ups are always taken from one of the reliable sources mentioned in our Editorial Policies.

  5. "Are you affiliated with AFC Ajax Amsterdam or the official supporters club (the Supportersvereniging Ajax or SVA)?"

Nope. They know all about us and are very supportive in small ways. But we're not officially associated with Ajax or the SVA.

  6. "Can you get me tickets to Ajax games in the Netherlands?"

You normally won't need our help. You can obtain tickets to most Ajax home games by yourself. Just read our Tickets page. For special games, like Ajax vs Feyenoord or Champions League fixtures, the rules and procedures are different, but it's still possible.

  7. "My (son/daughter/dog/tea-cozy) is a really great soccer player. Can you help me arrange a try-out with Ajax?

Sadly, no. We have nothing to do with AFC Ajax Amsterdam scouting, recruiting or training. We can not forward information to Ajax about prospective players. You might want to read our profile of Ajax Youth Development to better understand how players are drafted into De Toekomst. And then if you still want to contact Ajax, here's their address and contact information.
  8. "Do you sell the famous Ajax shirt? Where can I buy Ajax stuff?"

We don't sell anything. Sorry. Why don't you try the official Online Fanshop at Ajax.nl?

  9. "I have a great Ajax web site. Can we do a link exchange?"

No, we don't maintain a links page.

  10. "Why do you do this, if not for money?"

Good question. Truth is, if we were smart enough to make some decent money off this club without compromising your privacy or our own dignity, we'd have done it a long time ago! Point of fact: we're football fans, not entrepreneurs. If that seems lame, wait 'till you read this!
