Ajax come close to goalscoring record at Greenstars

19 July: Ajax came close to the Dutch goalscoring record in a friendly game. Last weekend PSV broke the record winning 0-20 at Olympia'18. This Wednesday at Greenstars from the town of Baarn Ajax came close, but eventually settled for 18 goals. For the record: the match was only 85 minutes long. The referee ended the game because numerous local 'autograph hunters' invaded the pitch, thinking that the game was finished...

It was Ajax's third pre-season victory with more than 10 goals. Next Saturday Ajax will have to has to prove themselves against opposition of a more serious caliber when they face French top flight outfit Saint Etienne. (BV)
