Poor financial result
20 Mar: The results on the pitch
were this week definitely better than the financial results
presented this Monday. The first six months of the financial
year 2000/2001 yield only a 6 hundred thousand guilders net
profit ($250 thousand). This was 1 million guilders ($416
thousand) less than a year ago in the same period. The turnover
in the first 6 months increased with 4.6 percent to 56.6
million guilders ($23.5 million).
Ajax hope for a better result in the next 6 months, since
they will meet both PSV and Feyenoord at home. These top
matches usually generates a lot of money.
The profits out of the sale of players stagnated and the
there was less profit due to a decreasing sale of season
tickets. The number of season ticket holders is now 37.095;
2302 less than last season. The merchandising of t-shirts and
other souvenirs also stagnated around 4,7 million guilders
($1.9 million).
The Ajax stock opened high the Monday after the 9-0 victory
and grew during the day with 11%. But after the presentation of
the financial results the price immediately went down to the
same level as it was before the successful sports weekend.
