Ajax buys Swedish striker
22 March: Today
Ajax contracted new striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Although his
name wouldn't suggest it, he is Swedish and now plays for
Malmö FF. Ibrahimovic (19) signed a 5-year contract and
will join the club at the beginning of next season. According
to the club itself, Ajax won the battle with top clubs like AS
Monaco, Juventus, AC Milan and Arsenal.
The Swedish striker is 1.92 meters tall and therefore looks
like the type of player coach Adriaanse said he was missing in
his team. The rumours about a transfer of Twente player Jan
Vennegoor of Hesselink seem to be definitely not real anymore
now.
Ibrahimovic is an international for Sweden, having played
two games for his country so far. After Inge Danielsson, Peter
Larsson and Stefan Pettersson, Ibrahimovic is the fourth
Swedish player ever to have played at Ajax. (BV)
