Witschge to Alaves

10 August: Richard Witschge will be loaned out immediately
to Spanish club Alaves. After some big problems with head coach
Co Adriaanse, Witschge said he never want to play under
Adriaanse anymore. He rather would play for Haarlem than to be
on the bench at Ajax. But after a week of negotiations it
turned out to be Alaves.
At the Spanish side Witschge (31) will play together with
another Dutchman: Jordi Cruijff. With Jordi last season Alaves
lost the UEFA cup final against Liverpool in an absolute
thriller (5-4).
Under Jordi's father as a coach Witschge made his debut at
Ajax in 1986 when he was 17 years old. Later he joined Cruijff
at Barcelona. Before his return to Ajax in 1996 Witschge also
played for Blackburn Rovers and Girondins Bordeaux.
