Mido dropped from first team again

20 February: For the second time this season, coach Ronald Koeman has dropped Mido from the first team of Ajax. Neither the head coach nor Ajax have mentioned details regarding the affair, only commenting that it is due to 'disciplinary reasons'. The Egyptian striker has been demoted to Young Ajax with immediate effect.

Earlier this season, Mido also aroused Koeman's wrath by stating that he would leave the club during the winter break 'for sure', because he was substituted against his will. Back then, Mido retreated very quickly from his strong words and, after accepting a fine, the young rebel returned to the team. But in the past months the striker has not seen much playing time, partly due to the good performance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and, more recently, because of a bout with the flu and a small injury.
