Knopper loaned out to Aris FC
1 August: After Pius Ikedia, Richard Knopper is the next
player who will be loaned out during the upcoming season. The
Ajax midfielder will move to Greek club Aris FC with immediate
effect. Knopper (24) had already been told that there was no
place for him in Koeman's squad this season.
Knopper made his debut at Ajax on November 9, 1997 in
Rotterdam against Sparta (0-5). In the next five seasons he
played in another 65 league matches in which he scored 19
times. In the Amstel Cup tournament, Knopper played three
matches in which he scored one time. In European games, he
played eight matches and scored four goals for Ajax.
The loan will be only for one season. What will happen after
that is unknown. Knopper's contract expires June 2005. (BV)
