Nourdin Boukhari joins NAC Breda on one year loan
04 September: One day after the departure of
Cedric van der Gun to ADO Den Haag Ajax and NAC Breda
have reached an agreement on the transfer of Nourdin Boukhari.
The former Sparta Rotterdam left-footer will join the Breda
side on loan for the rest of the season. The clubs already
reached an agreement yesterday. Today Boukhari and his new club
worked out to financial details of the deal. NAC Breda will
also get the option to buy the player at season's end.
After the signing of wingers such as Tom Soetaers and
Nicolae Mitea, Van der Gun and Boukhari were told by coach
Ronald Koeman that there is no future for them in the Ajax-1
squad. Both players have now found Eredivisie employment for
the season. In both cases Ajax did not reveal the financial
details of the deal. NAC Breda was looking for a new left
winger after the unexpected departure of another player from
the Ajax school: Kevin Bobson, who left for Spanish side
Espanyol.
Having worn the jersey of Sparta Rotterdam for three
seasons, Nourdin Boukhari (born 30 June 1980) joined Ajax at
the start of the 2002-2003 season. Sparta was in deep financial
trouble at the time, so that Ajax's purchase was 'lifesaving'
for the Rotterdam club. Boukhari played 76 league games and
scored 13 goals for Sparta. He made his first team début
for Ajax in the Eredivisie away game at FC Groningen (01
September 2002) and scored his first brace of goals in the home
game against AZ (19 October 2002).
Boukhari, who was presented as a signing 'for the future',
seemed to develop to Koeman's satisfaction. He had 22
Eredivisie appearances last season, scoring six goals. He also
played in three Amstel Cup and four Champions League games.
Boukhari was born in Rotterdam, but has a Dutch and a
Moroccan passport, which gave him the choice for which of his
two fatherlands he was going to be available as a footballer.
Boukhari chose for Morocco. He played four games for the
national side of the North-African country so far.
Boukhari joins NAC Breda after the closing of the UEFA
transfer window. However, the Breda club will ask the UEFA to
grant dispensation, so that Boukhari can will be available
for NAC Breda's upcoming games against Newcastle United in the
first round of the UEFA Cup. (MP)
