Juanfran accepts three games suspension
06 October: 'Juanfran' García, who was red
carded on Monday for an 'elbow' in Young Ajax's home
game against Young Heerenveen, has accepted a settlement
proposal from the KNVB: the Spanish Ajacied will be suspended
for the next three Young Ajax matches. He is also
suspended for Ajax-1 games until Young Ajax have played three
league games.
This means that the first game for which Juanfran will be
eligible is either the first team's Sunday 06
November away fixture against NEC, or Young Ajax's Monday 07
November away game at, coincidentally, the reserves team of the
same club.
On top of his KNVB suspension Ajax have handed Juanfran a
fine for his violent conduct in the reserves game. This is
reported by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. The
paper quotes Ajax's technical director, Martin van Geel,
saying: "We understand a lot, but we won't accept
everything."
Juanfran, who joined Ajax on loan from Besiktas on
12 August of this year, was sent off in the 83rd
minute of Young Ajax vs Young SC Heerenveen, at De Toekomst on
Monday evening. The Spanish fullback hit Heerenveen player
Sebastiaan Steur in the face with his elbow. He had
already picked up a yellow card earlier in the game,
but was directly red carded for his behaviour by referee
Makkelie.
Juanfran will miss the Eredivisie games against Heracles
Almelo (home, 15 October), PSV (away, 23 October) and SC
Heerenveen (home, 28 October). He will be available
for Champions League fixtures. (MP)
