Ajax sign Kuffour for six months
29 January: Ajax has secured the services of Samuel Osei Kuffour on a free transfer from AS Roma for the remainder of the season. The defender signed a six-month contract with the Amsterdam club, with an option for two more years.

Kuffour, born in Kumasi, Ghana on 3 September 1976, began his professional career with Bayern Munich in 1994. After one season he transferred to FC Nürnberg but returned after half a season and stayed with the Munich giants for nine seasons.
A perrenial Ghana international, Kuffour won his first cap as a 17-year old when Ghana played Sierra Leone on November 28, 1993. He has also been part of every Ghanaian national team, representing his country at the junior, youth and Olympic levels. He was made captain of the national team at the young age of 23. On January 12, 2007, the Confederation of African Football voted Kuffour as a member of the Top 30 African Players of All-Time.
