Ajax USA in Amsterdam 2003

2003 was an unusual trip. Only a handful of attendees overcame the barriers of a unfriendly travel climate and a sucky economy to make the trip. Here's a picture from Ajax.nl, featuring some of the boys delivering the traditional (?) box of Girl Scout Thin Mints to John O'Brien at Ajax 1 training on Friday, 14 March 2003.

This was Ajax USA's third annual trip to Amsterdam to see Ajax in action. Working with Ajax Travel, the official travel bureau of AFC Ajax Amsterdam, we designed a week-long trip that kept all the good stuff from previous trips, while adding something new: Champions League action at the Amsterdam Arena! We attended Ajax v Valencia!

In addition to the Champions League game, the Ajax USA travelers enjoyed an Eredivisie league game against Excelsior of Rotterdam.

Our guests stayed at the AMS Hofpark Hotel & Résidence, a Three Star full service hotel adjacent to Vondelpark in the heart of Amsterdam. The Hofpark got rave reviews from our attendees, and we hope to stay there again in future.
