The following answers some of the more common questions about our February 2008 Rendezvous in Amsterdam...
When should I plan to arrive in Amsterdam?
That's totally up to you. We might schedule an ArenA Day (tour of the stadium, observe training, lunch at SoccerWorld, visit to fanshop) on a day between January 31 and February 05. If we have enough interest, we'll also do the History Tour in that time frame. But the main event is Ajax v. Feyenoord on February 3rd. Make sure you're in town for that.
Does Ajax USA help with travel and hotel arrangements?
Not really. You are responsible for getting yourself to and from Amsterdam, and with making your own hotel arrangements. But we do recommend a couple of hotels, if that is helpful.
Does Ajax USA provide the match tickets?
We have in the past, but this year we are NOT going to do that. We will provide you with all the information you need to get the tickets yourself, but it's up to you to make that happen. Don't worry, with enough money all things are possible.
How much does Ajax USA charge?
Nothing. We don't charge money. We're just Ajax fans, like you. We make some arrangements for you, but your payments go directly to the various service providers (your hotel, your ticket source, etc.) Anyone is welcome to join us for Arena Day and the History Tour (if we do them). There's never a charge for any of that. Just cover your own expenses for food, drink and public transit. Okay, you can buy us a beer or three, if you insist. :-)
- Let me repeat: Ajax USA takes NONE of your money. We make no profit whatsoever on this thing. We're so rich we don't need it. ;-)
Are kids welcome on the Ajax USA trip?
Yes! The Ajax USA Rendezvous experience is definitely kid-friendly! I am bringing my 10 year old son for his second time! Amsterdam is a very kid-friendly city, with lots of great things to do in between all the Ajax-fun.
Where will I get my match tickets?
Since this is a high demand, high risk match, you will probably need to pay top-dollar to a broker such as TicketUnlimited, a legitimate ticket re-seller. If you're sure you're going, you'd better get them well in advance.
Will we be sitting all together as a group at the game?
We will not be sitting all together! You will pretty much be on your own inside the stadium. But don't worry; there really are no bad seats, and everyone's friendly (unless you end up in the visiting supporters section, which is physically impossible).
What else do need to know?
Do you have a passport? If not, you'd better take care of that immediately, as it takes a few weeks to get. And please note that photo identification is required at the ArenA gates for every Ajax game. You must carry your passport or driver's license with you to every game. We recommend you bring both documents to Amsterdam.
